ALEXANDER, DOROTHY LE LIEVRE 1926 to 2010 Dorothy Alexander passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 17, 2010, at her La Jolla, California home. Several years earlier she had successfully overcome non-Hodgkin lymphoma, but had recently been diagnosed with congestive heart failure. A promising course of treatment had begun but, sadly, time was not on her side. Born on November 30, 1926 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, Dorothy’s early years were spent in Sault Ste. Marie where she attended and graduated from the Loretto Academy for Girls. She also lived in Florida as a teenager and later spent over twenty years in the Los Angeles area, residing most recently in Granada Hills, a San Fernando Valley suburb. She has been a La Jolla resident since 1977. A talented self-taught business professional, Dorothy ran the classified advertising department of the Sault Ste. Marie Evening News during World War II before attaining the age of twenty. After moving to Los Angeles, she served as chief accounting officer of several Los Angeles businesses. Her final position, before resigning in 1960 to spend more time with her family, was as office manager of a Beverly Hills CPA firm where she also headed the firm’s substantial business management department serving entertainment industry clients. Dorothy is survived by her son Larry Alexander, her daughter Judi Jacobson, her grandsons Zac and Max Alexander and her husband of 51 years Frank Alexander. All of them will miss her greatly.
