UPDATE – This plugin appears to have become a victim of php5.4.
Looking for the best instagram plugin for WordPress? You don’t have to look far as Instapress is the best plugin around.
[simply_instagram endpoints=”users” type=”recent-media” size=”thumbnail” display=”9″]
Grab the plugin from Instapress.it and authorize it with your Instagram account. Once that is done, set up a new page in WP and put in the following:
[instapress userid="your-account-name"]
Save the page and you will see your digitally processed hipster photos in its glory.
Supposedly you want to show the latest 20 photos, in 90×90 image size with fancybox effects. Copy and paste the line below:
[instapress userid="your-account-name" piccount="20" size="90" effect="fancybox" title="1"]
If you don’t like the shortcode, there is always the little icon to click on to select what you need. You can add instagram to your widget, be sure to follow the instructions on the site.
For the responsive web design crowd, I would recommend checking ‘disable width and height attribute for images (e.g. for responsive layouts)’ in the plugin setting.
I should mention that this plugin will throw up some issues with WP Super Cache. To fix this, you need to tell the caching plugin not to cache your instagram page otherwise it will not pull in the latest photos.
Instructions for the impatient:
- Settings > WP Super Cache > Advanced
- Scroll down to Accepted Filenames & Rejected URIs
- Add /instagram to the box (see screenshot below to be sure!)
- Save settings and test. You might need to do some more fiddling to update your .htaccess file.
This is to prevent your instagram page from being cached
If you use W3 Total Cache, you don’t need to do anything.
Now get snapping some more hipster photos!
